The Independent School Entrance Exam is a nationally normed admissions test used by many independent schools as one component of the admissions process. Unlike many school-based assessments, students are compared to other applicants in the same grade level, not to older students. Percentile scores reflect how a student performed relative to peers nationwide seeking admission to independent schools. The ISEE is designed to be challenging, and many high-achieving students find the exam difficult. Success requires not only strong academic skills but also effective test-taking strategies, confidence, and familiarity with the exam format. This workshop is designed to help students strengthen content knowledge, develop strategic approaches to each section of the exam, and build the confidence needed to perform at their best. While every effort is made to help students improve, individual score gains and admissions outcomes cannot be guaranteed. TMI Episcopal Gresham Scholarship Families interested should be aware that applicants must earn at least the 75th percentile in each of the four scored sections of the ISEE to remain eligible for scholarship consideration. Meeting this benchmark does not guarantee selection. Scholarship recipients are chosen through a holistic review that also considers academic achievement, teacher recommendations, leadership, extracurricular involvement, character, interviews, and other admissions criteria established by TMI Episcopal. Attendance Because each class builds on previous lessons, students are expected to attend every session. Materials from missed classes will be provided whenever possible; however, individual make-up sessions are not included. Homework Students should expect approximately 30–45 minutes of practice between sessions. Consistent practice is one of the strongest predictors of improvement. Small-Group Instruction Enrollment is intentionally limited to provide individualized attention, opportunities for questions, and meaningful feedback throughout the course. Bonus Review Session Students enrolled in the workshop receive a complimentary two-hour comprehensive review session prior to the Dec 12 ISEE administration. This session reinforces key concepts, reviews high-yield strategies, and helps students feel confident heading into test day.
